Youthreach Progression provides FETAC and Leaving Certificate Applied Programmes for young adults (16-21 years) wishing to return to education. Youthreach Progression provides courses and training for young people aged 16-21 years. The Progression Centre was set up to provide a progression pathway for students completing Fetac Level 3 and 4 in other Youthreach Centres and to provide a pathway for students who completed Junior Certificate and who may leave school without completing their Leaving Certificate.
We are a 45 place centre. Our aim is to promote personal development and achievement, by building on successes, increasing confidence and developing learning skills in a respectful and friendly atmosphere.

Programmes on Offer
FETAC Level 5 Courses
1. General Studies: The aim of this course is to provide students with a broad range of basic business and study skills to equip them for further study or going into the workplace. Modules include Research & Study Skills, Spreadsheet Methods, Database, Word Processing, Customer Service, Desktop Publishing, Communications and Work Experience.
2. Early Childcare and Education: This course is designed to provide students with the knowledge and qualifications required to pursue a career in Childcare. Modules include Child Development, Early Care & Education Practice, Early Childhood Education & Play, Child Health & Well Being, Communication, Social Studies, Personal Effectiveness and Work Experience.
3. Graphic Design: The aim of this course is to encourage the artistic ability of the students with a view to equipping them with the necessary skills to pursue a career or further study in art or design. Modules include Graphic Design Skills, Drawing, Design Skills, Combined Materials, Desktop Publishing, Appreciation of Art, Craft and Design, Communications and Work Experience.
4. Sport & Recreation: This course is aimed at students who have a genuine interest in sport and in pursuing a career or further study in the sport of leisure industry. Modules include Sport & Recreation Studies, Exercise & Fitness, Health Related Fitness, Customer Service, First Aid, Person Effectiveness, Word Processing, Desktop Publishing and Work Experience.
Leaving Certificate Applied
The LCA is offered to young people with a Fetac Level 3 or Junior Cert. The aim of the LCA is to prepare students for adult and working life. It recognises and develops individual talents and helps students to communicate better and make decisions for themselves. It also encourages students to use their knowledge and skills to solve real problems. Subjects include: Vocational Preparation, Guidance and Work Experience, English & Communications, Maths, Information Technology, Childcare and Active Leisure Studies.
FETAC Level 4
Youthreach Progression also offers a FETAC Level 4 qualification in IT. This is particularly useful for students who wish to gain employment or further training in the IT Sector. Subjects include Computer Applications, Information Technology Skills, Desktop Publishing, Word Processing, as well as Communications, Maths, Art, Metalwork and Work Experience.
Other Courses Offered:
First Aid, Driver Theory Testing, Manual Handling, Safe Pass
Activities include: Community Projects, Competitions both local and National: Gaisce Awards, and Young Social Innovators, Show Racism the Red Card and The Sweetman Trust Competition. Classes are also available in dance, singing, drama, drumming, physical fitness and metalwork.
Counselling: A Counselling service is provided and all students may avail of this service.
Opening Hours: Our programmes run from September to July and we are open daily from 8.30. Classes are from 9.00 am to 4.00 pm. Monday to Thursday and 9.00 am to 1.00 pm on Friday.
