Kells Youthreach

Centre Philosophy and Vision Statement

The vision for Kells Youthreach is for young people to leave the programme ready for the next part of their lives. We do this by teaching them life skills which include positive thinking and problem solving. The education programme we provide is flexible in design and delivery and we strive to create opportunities to broaden their horizons. Our vision includes the building of positive relationships in both formal and informal settings. Our processes enable learners to be managers of their own lives and develop within them the ability to respond to change.

Our Supporting Model

We engage in a process of Mentoring with our students. We are part of a pilot project which comes under Special Education Needs provision and were awarded funding to engage in a mentoring support programme with young people. In order to do this work staff members are trained in Mentoring and use a model called the web wheel to support them in working with young people. Doing this work allows us to integrate the provision of support into the work we do day to day in the centre.
