LMETB is leading a new and innovative European project on Career Guidance under the Erasmus+ programme entitled ‘SELFIE: Career Planning for Dynamic Economies’. Other partners involved in the project include JKC in Lithuania, University of Paderborn in Germany, Cardet in Cyprus and Lousada in Portugal.

The SELFIE project is based on the belief that we now need to consider career planning ranging from the ages of 12-18 and not just at senior cycle, developing it as a subject with curriculum resources at different levels, with required learning outcomes and an assessment framework to measure attainment. It will be of great benefit to students and guidance counsellors.

Curriculum resources developed to support the teaching of career planning as a subject in second level education will be designed at three levels. Introductory Level addressed to students between the ages of 12 to 14 years; Intermediate Level addressed to students between the ages of 14 to 16 years; Advanced Level addressed to students between the ages of 16 to 18 years.

Induction training for existing career guidance experts will be developed to support their integration into the new career planning curriculum. This project aims to provide valuable resources and a structured curriculum to guidance counsellors to enhance the already extensive and valuable range of services they offer in schools.
